 Indian History

Indian history can be traced back to the earliest civilizations in the world. The Indus Valley Civilization, one of the oldest in the world, dates back at least 5,000 years. This ancient civilization was located in the northwestern region of the Indian subcontinent, and its remains can be found in the present-day countries of India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

The Vedic period is the next major phase in Indian history. This period is named for the Vedas, a set of sacred texts that were composed during this time. The Vedic period saw the rise of Hinduism, the dominant religion in India today.

The next major phase in Indian history is the Maurya Empire. The Maurya Empire was founded in 321 BCE by Chandragupta Maurya. It was the largest empire in India until it was overthrown by the Kushan Empire in the 2nd century CE.

The Gupta Empire was the next major empire in India. It was founded in 320 CE by Chandra Gupta I. The Gupta Empire reached its height under the rule of Chandra Gupta II, who ruled from 375 to 415 CE. The Gupta Empire was eventually overthrown by the Vakataka Empire.
